Sunset Skating Club offers the Skate Canada designed Canskate program that is a great introduction to skating. It is an absolute must for anyone who hopes to enter the world of Figure Skating, Hockey, Ringette or just wants to learn a few skills. For skaters that have taken lessons elsewhere, or over 5 years old, Sunset offers the regular Canskate program. If your child is new to skating and is under 5 years old, you may want to enroll him/her into Canskate for Tots which provides him/her with more personal attention while being in a class with children of similar age.

Canskate

How our Canskate program runs:

  • class sizes are kept to 9 skaters per coach
  • 45 minute lessons provide enough time for learning and practicing new skills
  • all groups are coached by a Skate Canada and NCCP Certified Instructor
  • skaters progress at their own speed through the levels
  • incentives (such as stickers and prizes) are used to keep kids motivated
  • theme days (such as "beach day" or "the Canskate challenge") keep kids entertained as they learn trickier and fancier skills

Canskate for Tots (2.5 to 5 year olds)

The Tots program is designed for a more fun and relaxed introduction to skating for children under 5 years old. A Tots class is run on every Canskate session as outlined below.

  • 45 minutes lessons
  • class sizes are kept to 6 skaters per coach
  • extra help from program assistants ensure that skaters receive individual attention
  • classes focus on fun, with lots of toys and props, and educational games

If you have any questions regarding the Canskate program, please contact: :

the Sunset Skating Club Co-head Coach at co-head.coach@sunsetskatingclub.com or the Sunset Administrator, admin@SunsetSkatingClub.com
